HER STORY ⟡ Jacquelyn of JUNO
Hi friend! I’m Jacquelyn Potesta, a multi-passionate entrepreneur, boy-mom, and Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
Empowering working moms, clean(ish) living, and personal development are my jam! I am a Cincinnati native (go bearcats!) and left for Charleston, SC for anesthesia school. After meeting my future husband and coming home in 2017, life happened fast - we got married, moved 3 times, and had 2 kids within 3 years!
When did you realize entrepreneurship was for you?
I always thought anesthesia would be my lifelong career, but it all changed in 2019 - I’ll never forget my nanny sending a video of my son rolling over for the first time. I was so upset that I wasn’t the one there to see it. That’s when it hit me that I needed to find a way to have more time-freedom, and the stress of working in healthcare in 2020 further confirmed that I needed a way out. I was tired of coming home and giving my “leftovers” to my family.
During the pandemic I built a successful clean-living e-commerce business and led a team of over 150 women. I loved empowering other new moms to make a living in the online space! But I found myself craving in-person interactions, and I wanted to use the skills I went to school for. I’ve always loved beauty and skincare, so I found a career that would allow me to combine that with my advanced training in anatomy and injections: aesthetics!
I spent 2021 pursuing my aesthetics career, opened a concierge service in spring of 2022, and in September of 2022 I officially opened my own brick + mortar spa!
What do you love about being a business owner?
I love the flexibility of creating my own schedule so I can prioritize what matters most to me: my family. I also love the challenge of building something and all the personal growth that comes along with it! I hope to inspire other working moms to find ways to do the same.
How did you choose the name JUNO?
I believe modern women are SO powerful - we really do it all! Juno is the name of an ancient Roman goddess recognized as the Goddess of all Goddesses. She was known as a beautiful, loving mother who represented vitality and youthfulness, but she was also a strong warrior who fiercely protected her family and Roman women.
Soft but strong, kind but fierce, majestic but powerful - I love that Juno embodies the complex, multi-faceted femininity of women today!
What type of impact do you hope to have?
I want every client at Juno to walk out feeling powerful and confident! I really believe that when you prioritize self-care, you’re better equipped to care for the important people in your life. You can’t pour from an empty cup!
I personally found that as a new mom, spending 5 minutes in the morning to do my skincare routine allowed me to feel like I had done something for myself that day, which helped me to be more patient with my kids. And when I tried botox for the first time, it was the confidence-booster I needed to spark other habits like eating better and being more active. It really can be a snowball effect!
What do you want our Beauty Boost members to know
Taking care of your skin is not superficial or selfish! When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you do good! We need more good in this world, and it starts with taking care of ourselves!
Also, aesthetic treatments should look natural! Finding an injector who is well-versed in anatomy and being consistent with treatments over time are both important to aging gracefully!
