Today, we're meeting Jamie Klare and Whitney Hoffer with LED Marquee Cincinnati
Tell us about you and your background!
Jamie works in L&D and Whitney is a fitness coach and bookkeeper. So, as you can tell neither of us has experience in the events industry.
Tell us about your business and why you started it!
In December, Whitney and her family were over for dinner. She told me how one of her bookkeeping clients out of Louisville was expanding her company to include marquee letters and had suggested she open in Cincinnati. After a couple drinks we thought it was a great idea. The next morning, we were reaching out to the parent company in Nashville to open LED Marquee Cincinnati.
What do you love about being a business owner?
I’m a planner and still laugh when I think about how we decided to open our own business in less than 24 hours, but everything about this exciting journey has felt right. Whitney and I have said many times we couldn’t do this without each other. We both have different strengths to bring to the company and love working together. Meeting new people and learning more about what is going on in our area has been so much fun.
What advice would you give yourself from 5 years ago OR your past self just starting your business?
Take the risk and trust yourself. We are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Our outlook on beauty and what it means to us has changed with age and growth. Beauty means being happy and confident in who we are, and showing kindness to others, both friends and strangers.
Who or what inspires you?
Whitney and I both have 3 children each. Our kids are what inspire us. We want our children to watch us work hard and succeed while doing what we love. We want them to know they can open doors and create their own path in life.
What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?
Whitney and Jamie are two friends that love our city and are honored to be part of someone’s special day whether it be a wedding, graduation, or the opening of a new business. We have only been in the events industry for a couple months and have been blown away by how welcoming everyone has been to us. We are excited to see LED Marquee light up Cincinnati!
