Today, we are meeting Chandler Fogarty of Dew Aesthetics!

Tell us about you and your background!

I am a wife, mama x1, Maryland native, Registered Nurse, a current Nurse Practitioner student, and a business owner!

I grew up in the Hereford Zone, which is a small town in Northern Baltimore County. I earned my first bachelor’s degree in Community Health from the University of Delaware, before going on to earn my bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Maryland. Right after passing my board exam, I began working in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. I loved being a critical care RN, and I learned so much being on a high-acuity unit – especially during the pandemic. But after getting married in the summer of 2022, I decided it was time to have a more “normal” work schedule. The 12-hour shifts and day/night rotations were wearing on me.

I started my Family Nurse Practitioner program through Duke University in the fall of 2022, because I had always been intrigued by medical aesthetics and I wanted to give it a try. I spent the next few months applying to aesthetic jobs before I was hired at a plastic surgery office outside of the city. While there, I learned the basics of injecting and a variety of laser and body contouring devices. However, I soon realized that it wasn’t a business model or environment that I personally aligned with, so that is when I decided to take the leap and start a practice of my own that prioritizes evidence-based therapies, and its customers’ and staff’s well-being.

Tell us about your business & why you started it?

My business is Dew Aesthetics, and we are a boutique aesthetic practice that just opened in Federal Hill! We currently offer neuromodulator treatments (i.e. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin), dermal fillers (Restylane, Revanesse), AQUAGOLD facials, custom PCA Skin chemical peels, and Exceed microneedling. We also carry Revision Skincare products, which I love because they’re medical-grade, backed by science, and you can have an amazing at-home regimen with only a few products!

I started my business because I want to help people feel like the best versions of themselves! I love building lasting relationships with my clients and treating them holistically. I also wanted to create an aesthetic experience that is vibrant, approachable, and inclusive. Making sure my clients feel cared for is imperative to me!

What do you love about being a business owner?

I love being my own boss and being able to make decisions that reflect my “why.” It is refreshing to not be constrained by organizational values that do not reflect who I am as a person and medical provider. I thrive in environments where I can be independent. I also enjoy staying busy, and as a business owner, there is never a shortage of things to do!

What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or who receive your services?

I want to help people feel like the best versions of themselves! Confidence comes from within, but how we feel about ourselves on the outside can have a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves on the inside. Elevating your natural glow with quality at-home skincare, skin resurfacing treatments, volume replacement, facial balancing, and/or wrinkle relaxers can make a big difference. It’s all about self-love and self-confidence! I feel so grateful that I get to be part of my clients’ journeys and help empower them.

What advice would you give to yourself from 5 years ago? OR your past self just starting your business?

I would tell my past self that you will NEVER have it all figured out, but that’s OK - start anyway! I am a total perfectionist and I tend to get hung up on the details. But if you are passionate, hardworking, and determined, you will figure it out as you go. Fake it ‘til you make it is truly the motto to live by as a new business owner (lol)!

What does BEAUTY mean to you?

I think beauty is a combination of kindness and confidence.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by all the female entrepreneurs who are out here killing it! Being a business owner is hard, and doing it while also juggling all the other responsibilities women have in our society takes an immense amount of determination.
