HER STORY ⟡ Kayla Marie
Kayla Marie is a photographer, videographer, and mother of 3 in Cincinnati, OH. She has worked with Imani Productions for the past 2 years doing Media and Arts Administration work throughout the city. Recently she has been hired to capture and create media for content creation on social media platforms but she enjoys projects of all kinds. Including but not limited to brand shoots, mini-shoots, event recap reels, and more! She is looking forward to working with more families and artists of all platforms this year!
Kayla has been involved with Arts Administration since 2012. She has worked with companies in Pittsburgh, Kentucky, and Cincinnati for over 10 years. She has experience in working with dancers, actors, musicians, visual artists, and vocal artists. She enjoys assisting with behind-the-scenes organization and administration that will help take the stress of day-to-day tasks off of their hands! It has always been amazing to see what artists and business owners can create when they don't have to remember to do remedial tasks.
Why I started:
I have always been interested in media! I got my first camera when I was in elementary school and enjoyed it as an on-and-off side project until about 5 years ago when I started to take it more seriously! Now I realize I can support myself by doing things I love and it has been even more motivation to keep going!
What I love about being a business owner:
My dream is to be able to get my business(es) to a point where I can take my kids on month-long vacations out of the country while I do remote work and edit projects beforehand. I want to be able to have the time and finances to show my kids everything!
What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or who purchase your products?
I always want to deliver the best product possible, but I also hope to gain a friend! Capturing moments in different people's lives can become personal at times so I always want my clients to feel safe, confident, and wanting to come back again!
Who or what inspires you?
I find inspiration in seeing women, especially mothers, around me who are their own Boss! It reminds me of the phrase “Dress for the job you want not the one you have” but translated into who you keep around you!
What is your favorite piece of advice you've ever received or favorite quote?
You can do hard things!
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
To me, beauty is the reflection of the energy of the soul. The way you move in the world is what makes you beautiful.
What advice would you give your past self just starting your business?
You can learn A LOT from YouTube! Take advantage of the free resources available to you. Don’t be afraid to ask other people in your field for advice.
What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?
That we as women can do SO much when we truly put our differences aside and come together as one. Sisterhood is so important, don’t be afraid to lean on each other and reach out when you need help with anything!
