HER STORY ⟡ Shannah Game
Today, we are meeting Shannah Game!
Why I started:
I started this journey because I saw how money impacts every aspect of our lives—our relationships, mental health, career choices, and even our self-worth. What struck me most was how often we’re told what to do with money but rarely how to feel about it. The emotional side of money—shame, fear, guilt—is what holds so many of us back. I wanted to create a safe, supportive space where people could address those emotions and finally rewrite their money stories.
In 2015, I launched my podcast, Everyone’s Talkin’ Money, as a way to have these real, honest conversations about money that weren’t happening anywhere else. Over the years, it’s grown into a top podcast with 28 million downloads, named a New York Times Top Money Podcast, which taught me that there’s a real need for a more emotional, holistic approach to money.
Through my work, I developed the Healthy Wealth program, a transformative system to help women heal their relationship with money, take control of their finances, and build unapologetic wealth. It’s not about spreadsheets or restrictive budgets—it’s about aligning your money with your values, creating a spending plan that works for you, and giving yourself permission to live a life you love.
My unique take on money stems from blending my expertise as a certified financial planner with my training as a certified trauma of money specialist. I focus on the emotional side of money because I believe 95% of our money decisions are mental. If we don’t address what’s happening emotionally, the numbers will never add up, no matter how many budgets or plans we create. That’s what I talk about in my new book, Unraveling Your Relationship with Money: Ditch the Money Trauma So You Can Live an Abundant Life.
At the core of everything I do is the belief that you don’t need to be perfect with money—you just need to take the first step. Whether it’s through the podcast, the Healthy Wealth program, or coaching, I’m here to help you make that step less scary and a whole lot more empowering.
What I love about being a business owner:
The freedom to create, connect, and make an impact. I love knowing that the work I do helps people feel empowered, break free from shame, and take control of their lives. Plus, I get to design a business that aligns with my values and inspires others to do the same. I often joke that I was literally born an entrepreneur.
What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or who purchase your products?
I want to help people feel seen and heard. I hope to show them that they’re not alone, that their money challenges don’t define them, and that real change is possible. My goal is to spark transformation—emotionally, financially, and holistically. The world is so chaotic that my goal is always to leave someone feeling empowered to be who they want to be without apologies.
Who or what inspires you?
I’m inspired by brave women who are willing to be vulnerable, own their stories, and make bold moves. I’m also deeply inspired by my clients—they remind me daily why I do what I do. And honestly, Asheville itself inspires me with its creative energy and sense of community. I can look at my office window and see a sea of trees, which gives me a deeply rooted sense that I’ve never felt before. I am also deeply inspired by delicious desserts that are honestly the best part of life .
What is your favorite piece of advice you've ever received or favorite quote?
"Clarity comes from action, not thought." This reminder has kept me moving forward even when fear creeps in. Taking imperfect steps is better than waiting for the perfect moment. As a recovering perfectionist, I have to remind myself of this on a minute-by-minute basis.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Beauty, to me, is about living your truth. It’s about being unapologetically you—embracing every flaw, quirk, and strength that makes you unique. True beauty isn’t in perfection; it’s in the courage to show up authentically and love yourself fully, even in the messy and imperfect moments. Beauty is in the realness of life—the vulnerability of chasing your dreams, the joy of small victories, and the resilience that comes from overcoming challenges. It’s found in those quiet moments when you realize you’re exactly where you’re meant to be, living in alignment with who you are and what you value most.
What advice would you give your past self just starting your business?
Trust yourself—your ideas, instincts, and unique perspective are more valuable than you realize. You don’t need to have everything figured out to get started; clarity comes through action, not overthinking. Don’t be afraid to take risks, even if they scare you, and never hesitate to ask for help or surround yourself with people who believe in your vision. Also, remember that trying to do everything will only burn you out—focus on what you love, what lights you up, and delegate the rest. Lastly, celebrate the small wins along the way because every step forward matters, even when progress feels slow.
What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?
You are so much more powerful than you give yourself credit for. Building the life and wealth you dream of is entirely possible, no matter where you’re starting from or what obstacles are in your way. It begins with your mindset—shifting from “I can’t” to “What’s possible?” and believing that you deserve the success and abundance you’re working toward. Remember, transformation doesn’t happen overnight; it’s built through small, consistent steps that add up to big, lasting change. Give yourself permission to dream bigger and take bold action. You’ve got everything you need to create a life you love.
