Sunday Resets + the 'Sunday Scaries' Remedy

Hey Gal! Happy Monday!

This week, we're chatting on all things Sunday rituals that help set the tone for the amazing + productive week ahead:)

Ditch the 'Sunday Scaries'

For most of us, the start of a new week can feel daunting. If I had a quarter for every time I said, “Ugh, I can't do another week,” I'd be on a yacht off the Amalfi Coast by now. A few months ago, after uttering this phrase for what felt like the millionth time, a friend of mine suggested I might be grappling with what's commonly known as the 'Sunday Scaries.' Never having heard this before, I took to Google.

Here's what I found: “The Sunday Scaries is characterized by feelings of anxiety, dread, or uneasiness that people report feeling on Sunday evenings, typically before the standard work week starts on Monday.”

Well, the good news is that while I haven't quite figured out how to slow time down or halt Monday's arrival, I've discovered a way to ease those 'Sunday Scaries' through what I like to call 'Sunday resets.'

Essentially, I dedicate each Sunday to truly recharging my body, mind and soul. I reflect on the past week, decompress, clean my living space and set intentions. I organize my thoughts and tasks for the upcoming week, which brings a sense of order and clarity, setting the stage for productive days ahead. This helps me feel peaceful and confident, rather than overwhelmed and dreadful. Now, my Sundays are a cornerstone of my well-being and a source of motivation.

My Sunday Rituals:

  1. I deep clean my living space, specifically my bedroom, since it's my sanctuary.

  2. I grocery shop and plan out my meals for the week.

  3. I wash my sheets and make my bed for a clean and cozy start.

  4. I like to check what toiletries I'm running low on, so I can grab them before the week starts.

  5. I write down all my plans, meetings and appointments in my calendar to stay organized.

  6. I wind down with an 'everything shower,' so I feel fresh going into the week.

  7. I light a candle and journal my intentions and affirmations for the week ahead.

  8. I go to bed at an early hour so that I wake up Monday morning energized.

Incorporate Sunday rest days into your routine and notice how it eases the transition into the upcoming week, making it more manageable and less intimidating.

Affirmation of the week: I am welcoming the abundance of good that this week will bring me.
