Habit Stacking + Life Lines

Happy Monday!

Rachel Kerr, founder of TBB here. I've been pretty direct that I'm going through some major life changes which includes a devastating breakup, living in an Airbnb for the summer (stacked with some other things) BUT that's led me to an amazing therapist + REALLY solid, new healthy habits that I want to share.

As my therapist Ryan often says: None of this is really ground breaking information BUT, when practiced and integrated into your daily life IT CAN BE life changing.

1. The first concept is Habit Stacking. One of our Columbus brand ambassadors, @heyitsclaireedwards, just led a virtual event for us on this exact concept. Habit Stacking is: adding a new behavior to your daily schedule by “stacking it” on top of an existing habit.
For me, I often walk my psycho dog Stuart the first thing in the morning. So now I journal for a few minutes as soon as I get back. The walk kinda signals my brain that journaling is "next in line."
--->Think about where you can add one mini habit stacked upon something you already do and give it a month to test out.

2. Life Lines. My therapist introduced this concept but he essentially called the things that fuel me and keep me level headed as my "life lines." This can be the concept of having a solid routine in the morning and at night. I've always talked about morning routines and known how much they can impact your day but I'm noticing NOW that it can feel like "life or death" (not to be overly dramatic). It's my "go-to" pieces that set me up mentally for the day regardless of what I'm going through. The idea is that when life gets really hard, these life lines help to carry you through. Routine can be crucial.
--->Think about something simple and efficient that you can make a routine that helps you move through the day with ease. Maybe this means that each night you prep your coffee maker, put food in your dogs bowl, set out your workout clothes, browse your calendar with a mini to-do list and drink a glass of tea.
