Meet Dr. Natalie Nguyen, founder of Eye Co!
I’m an eye doctor, business owner, mom, wife and DIY-er. I graduated from the University of Missouri - St. Louis College of Optometry. I worked in Kansas City for a few years and relocated to Grove City, OH, where I live with my husband and four kids.
Why I started?
At Eye Co., I’ve built something unique: a place where eye care is personalized and enjoyable. We break away from the typical clinical experience by focusing on genuine relationships and patient education, so your eye exam isn’t just about seeing clearly, but also feeling your best. Eye Co. is more than just eyeglasses and contact lenses - we specialize in dry eye and aesthetics; offering customized treatment plans to fit your life and needs.
What I love about being a business owner?
I love the independence to shape Eye Co. around my values - self-reliance, mentorship, and community outreach. Listening to patient feedback has been invaluable in refining our services; allowing me to tailor care, and enhance the relationships we build. Owning my own practice allows me to make every decision based on what’s best for my patient and my community.
What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or who purchase your products?
I want people to enjoy visiting their eye doctor and understand that eye health is a key part of their overall wellness. We spend the majority of our time educating patients about their eyes and how to protect their vision long-term. We work with each patient to create a customized plan to keep their eyes healthy and comfortable. We support independent frame makers with our bespoke eyewear options, which helps patients express their personal style while prioritizing function and comfort. My goal is for you to leave our office feeling informed, cared for, and confident about your eye health so that you will #LoveYourEyes!
Who or what inspires you?
My parents immigrated to the U.S. from Vietnam to give their children better opportunities; and their hard work and values continue to drive me in my practice and personal life. I strive to instill those same values in my own kids.
What is your favorite piece of advice you’ve ever received or favorite quote?
“Create a story that you’re proud of.” This is the philosophy that drives everything I do - both personally and professionally.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Embracing our individuality; expressing our creativity; and cultivating self-love.
What advice would you give your past self just starting your business?
Be patient with growth. Don’t rush the process. Focus on building real relationships with your patients and the community rather than chasing numbers. Trust that by staying curious, taking risks, and investing in education, you’ll create long-term success. And remember, work-life balance is key!
