HER STORY ⟡ Dr. Sadia Ali

Hey gal, today we are meeting Dr. Sadia Ali, founder of Aurora MedSpa!

Tell us about you and your background!
I attended FIU in my hometown of Miami, Florida, and received my Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry.  I attended medical school at USF Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, Fl.  I completed my Family Medicine Residency Training at Atrium Health in Concord, North Carolina. I finally completed my medical training in Winter Park, Florida where I was Junior Faculty and became fellowship-trained in Women’s Health & Obstetrics.  I am also trained in aesthetic & obesity medicine.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, 2 sons, and exercising. She moved back to her hometown in sunny South Florida to serve the community where her love for medicine was first born!

Tell us about your business & why you started it?
In January '21, I was trying to decide on a name for the new model of women's health I envisioned. I wanted a name that embodied female empowerment and a new approach to caring for women—an awakening/transformation in women's health. So I researched female superheroes and goddesses. That's when I came across Aurora, the Roman Goddess of The New Dawn. Here we are today!

After completing residency and fellowship training, I began my career in medicine returning to my South Florida roots and working in inner-city Miami.  I discovered patients were not receiving quality medical care due to limited resources, a lack of insurance coverage, and a healthcare network that was not focused on meeting individual patient needs.

Disheartened by what I found in those early years, I decided to start Aurora MedSpa to provide my community with the level of individualized care that I was trained to provide. As a working female physician and mother, I became privy to the struggles women face regarding healthcare.

What do you love about being a business owner?
I love that I can use it as a creative medium. I see it as a blank canvas for my gift of healing and helping others.

What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or who receive your services?
I want my Aurora MedSpa clients to view it as a safe space where women can get female-focused care. At the same time, they can leave feeling refreshed, more confident, and with more self-love and appreciation of their self-worth.

What advice would you give to yourself from 5 years ago? OR your past self just starting your business?
IT'S TOUGH!  Remember the WHY and prioritize the WHAT and HOW.  Take things one day at a time---ESPECIALLY during the difficult times.

Always trust your gut---my intuition has truly guided me in this journey and I have really learned to lean into it and trust myself.

What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Beauty means feeling happiness from knowing how far I have come to achieve this level of confidence and comfort with the person I am today.

Who or what inspires you?
Other women. Especially trailblazers before me like Oprah or Michelle Obama. And even young women who I speak to now that are outgoing and self confident (starting their own business, applying to postgraduate programs, picking up and moving to foreign countries and starting new lives)--I admire the courage and confidence in these women. I hope that when I return in this next life...I, too, can have that much confidence and courage as well.

What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?
My village of sisters has been my strongest asset in this journey.  I am so excited to meet all of you and have you meet my team!
