HER STORY ⟡ Dr. Tal Raizer

Meet Dr. Tal Raizer, owner of Plasma Med Spa!

Tell us about you and your background!
I am originally from Israel, but most of my childhood I spent in Nigeria and moved to Florida when I was 14. I am a nurse practitioner and spent most of my nursing career in Emergency Rooms and ICUs. As a nurse practitioner, my background is in orthopedic surgery where I spent most of my time treating athletes and orthopedic conditions. I specialized in the use of Plasma for musculoskeletal conditions. I took my love of injecting to aesthetics about 2 years ago. I am a mom with 2 young daughters and I am married to a Navy veteran. I am passionate about education and I am an Adjunct Professor at NOVA Southeastern University teaching in their Nurse Practitioner programs. I also am on the Board of Directors for the South Florida Council of Advanced Practice Nurses. I have always been involved in community service and really try to give back to my community as much as I can, so I recently joined the Rotary Club of Weston where I get to volunteer my time and raise funds for different organizations in the community.

Tell us about your business & why you started it?
I decided to start my own business focusing on the use of plasma in aesthetics and medicine because I am truly passionate about empowering individuals to embrace their best selves through advanced treatments that enhance both confidence and health. What better way to enhance our health and beauty than with our own natural stem cells. I feel that many women are interested in aesthetics, but feel insecure in starting their journey. Whether it be fear of needles, fear of the procedures themselves, or fear of looking unnatural. I wanted to help educate women on aging, natural beauty, and investing in themselves. I feel that by providing ethical, honest care, I can help women feel more confident and powerful.

What do you love about being a business owner?
What I love most about being a business owner is the power to create the patient experience that I desire. From social media content, to aesthetic treatments, I want my brand to provide empathy, support, care, and kindness. I love being able to create this experience for my patients. I love that I can always do the right thing for the patient, I don't have to follow some corporate sales guidelines that forces me to prioritize financial gain over ethics. I am also a mom, so I will say that allowing myself the flexibility to be with my kids when I want to is definitely a huge perk of being a business owner.

What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or who receive your services?
I really want to be able to help people feel better and more confident in themselves. I think there is a strange dichotomy between women needing to look a certain way and guilt with wanting to look that way. It's hard to reconcile those feelings. I think women should feel good about wanting to look beautiful. It's ok to want to age well. I hope to empower women to feel confident in themselves and their decisions in their aesthetic journey.

What advice would you give to yourself from 5 years ago? OR your past self just starting your business?
Do it sooner? I really would have liked to have started my business way before I did. I think that a lot of women go through imposter syndrome and I always felt like I wasn't good enough or I didn't have the strength to take this risk. Let's just say that since I started not long ago I can't quite admit that the risk has paid off, but I love what I'm doing, I love the learning and the growth that I am achieving. I think the world would be a much better place if women weren't scared to fail, think of all the amazing risks we would take and accomplish!

What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Beauty, to me, encompasses both internal and external qualities that reflect a person's character, essence, and values. Societal beauty standards often emphasize certain physical features or body types, which can be restrictive and exclusionary. However, true beauty transcends these narrow definitions. It's important to challenge these standards by celebrating diversity in appearance and appreciating individual uniqueness. For women especially, embracing and defining their own beauty can be empowering. It involves rejecting the pressure to conform to unrealistic ideals and instead recognizing their worth. Empowerment comes from self-acceptance, confidence, and supporting other women in their journeys.

Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired by strong women around me. Mostly my mom. I think a lot of times we try to think of famous people or leaders in their fields to get aspiration, but I think the moms out there are truly inspiring. Who is more organized, more on top of things, more stressed, more multi-tasking than moms? They shape us, they love us, they support us. As a mom of two little girls, it is my greatest joy and most difficult role in life and I truly aspire to be better at it everyday. And that is something that I apply to my business as well. I try to think about my failures as successes in learning and the example I am setting for my kids.
