Maximize Your Finances, Money Mindset + Side Hustles
Hey Gal! Happy Monday!
Today we're chatting on side hustles, money mindset and all things finance.
I recently was chatting with one of my best friends who said, “Oh, I don't even open up my banking because I don't want to know how bad it is.” This killed me. Getting real with your finances and shifting your mindset from scarcity to abundance can be a total game-changer.
1. Stop Stressing and Start Budgeting – Budgeting isn't a buzzkill, I promise. It's actually empowering. When you know where your money is going, you can re-evaluate/adjust and prioritize putting your money where you actually want. There are apps like Mint that make it super easy to track everything!
2. Surround Yourself with Money Mentors – Who you hang with matters, SO MUCH. Connect with like-minded women who are also building their financial futures. The Beauty Boost community is full of women working on their finances, just like you, and we're all here to lift each other up!
3. Educate Yourself (But Keep It Simple) – You don't need to become an expert overnight, but having a basic understanding of how investing works can boost your confidence. Work with a financial advisor. Read books like, “Rich Dad Poor Dad” and, if applicable, don't just let your partner handle all the money stuff. You want to know log-ins to everything + an overall idea of where finances are at.
4. Invest, 401(k) or IRA, diversify – If your job offers a 401(k) with matching contributions, take advantage of it! It's literally free money. If you don't have a 401(k), look into opening an IRA. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Spread your money across different types of investments—stocks, bonds, real estate, or even your own business.
5. Multiple Streams of Income – I've always been told to have multiple streams of income and I started this in college and have continued to do so. I took on freelance work when working corporate, taught yoga and other little odds and ends.
6. Side Hustles – Start brainstorming with a friend or on paper all the things you can do. These don't have to be huge time suckers. Ideas: social media freelancing, virtual assistant work, teaching fitness/yoga, affiliate programs, amazon store front and on!
