HER STORY ⟡ Erika Borden

This week we're introducing ya to an amazing woman: Erika Borden, owner of Wildfire Studios!

Tell us about you!

I am a mom of five, a nurse and a photographer. I am basic and bougie all in one. I am a lover of really good tacos, margs, yoga and hiking. My burning passion is empowering other humans to see themselves, love themselves and accept themselves for who they are, and where they are in their journey of life.

Why did you get started?

The art of photography is all about capturing a moment, holding onto a memory forever. Whether it is a beautiful sunset, or your loved ones, or yourself. I think documenting our journey is a way of creating a beautiful story, to re-read later in life and to leave for others to know us as we were.

What does BEAUTY mean to you?

Beauty isn't something defined by social media, a magazine or the runway. True beauty is about the differences we can appreciate in ourselves, in each other and the world around us. It is the parts of us we choose to share with the world, and the parts we keep for those closest to us. It is the mystery. The lines around your eyes that tell me how you laugh, or the freckles that tell me how you soak up the summer's warm sunshine. The scars that tell me about the baby your body carried. It is all beautiful and that is just scratching the surface , literally.

Remember, if the sun set the same everyday, would you even notice that a sunset happened. Or would you just notice the darkness? We notice things when they are different. Sameness is boring. So don't try to be someone other than you. Being you is what beauty truly is.

What impact do you want to leave?

The impact I hope to leave others is the knowledge that our space is a safe and supportive space to be yourself. That you can feel beautiful, empowered, and confident no matter your size, shape, age, gender, race, sexuality.
