Hi! I’m Lisa Vo, a full time working mom & owner of Simplis Kollective. Offering simple, chic & sustainable fashion, including handmade items. I believe in expressing individuality & putting your best self forward day after day.
When I’m not head deep in curated collections or new handmade products - you can find me on walks with my family.
Why I started:
I fell in love with merchandising back in 2014 as my first retail job. I worked in retail for 7 years, 6 of those being in retail management as a merchandiser. I made a leap of faith and left retail for the beauty industry - currently a store manager for Waxxpot. Simplis Kollective has grown since I started. I tested a lot of ideas. Fashion ended up being my passion, that has now turned into simple, chic & sustainable fashion. I believe that everyone should have the same access to clothing that makes you feel beautiful all day long. This is my purpose and I can't wait to help more women access their best version of themselves while building relationships.
What I love about being a business owner:
What isn’t there to love? Not everyday is rainbows, but at the end of the day it’s all worth it. I love building relationships, curating collections that are obtainable to all. My favorite thing about being a business owner is packaging. There's something about sending out happy mail & handwritten notes that I don’t think I’ll ever stop doing!
What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or who purchase your products?
If anything I hope that anyone who meets/purchases anything can walk away knowing they have a friend in me & that they are going to look & feel amazing in what they purchase from Simplis Kollective. Also that shopping sustainably is fun you never know what you’ll find.
Who or what inspires you?
As cliche as it sounds, everyone! Especially women, the community of women I’ve come across has been so supportive! There may be hundreds of people doing what you’re doing but the community never fails to show support for small businesses they believe in.
Also, my fiancé is my biggest supporter, always encouraging me to keep going.
And of course, my friends! Who always encourages me as well. For that, I am thankful to everyone.
What is your favorite piece of advice you've ever received or favorite quote?
“If you want something you never had, you have to do something you’ve never done.” -Thomas Jefferson Nothing ever grows in our comfort zone. It’s still something I work on daily.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Beauty to me means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself. Self love is key & that is beauty.
What advice would you give your past self just starting your business?
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are” -Theodore Roosevelt
Just start the thing you love. You never know what could happen. Things can change & that's okay but your business will grow with you if you allow it too.
