HER STORY ⟡ Tasheta Sumpter

Today we are meeting Tasheta Sumpter, owner of Sheta's Sweets!

How did you get started?

I started making and selling cakes in high school after taking a Culinary Arts class. At that time, I did not know that my talent would turn into a passion and later into a career. I would make cakes for friends until I was comfortable enough to build a brand and clientele.

What is your business?

Sheta's Sweets LLC specializes in gourmet desserts for every occasion. I handle custom cakes all the way to large caterings. I can also be spotted in my purple dessert truck in a city near you. If you have a sweet tooth, I have a solution!

What do you love about owning a small business?

I love the joy I bring. Having desserts makes everyone happy and I love being a part of that! A huge role in my business is working directly with those who have dietary needs. I allow my Food Science and Nutrition degree to keep my clients safe while my Culinary Arts degree keeps everything delicious. A birthday, wedding, or promotion can all be celebrated with desserts! 

What advice would you give a new fem-preneur?

Stay consistent. There will be days where you feel so far away from your goals and dreams but you have to keep moving forward. Some days the workload is heavy, while others may be a piece of cake, both days are a victory. No one will push your dream harder than you so do not give up! Ever.
