How to Get Rid of Your Sunday Scaries

Happy Monday!
Today's email is coming at ya from our intern, Nalijah!

Ever heard of the Sunday Scaries?

It can be when you get really nervous on Sunday when you think about the week ahead…think high anxiety! See these tips to help below:)

1. Fill your evening with activities you enjoy

I often get the Sunday Scaries because I feel like I didn’t use my weekend to do things I actually want to be doing. So, make sure to do at least one thing you love on Sunday evening. For me, it’s been crocheting and watching TV. Some ideas are putting on your favorite movie and grabbing a glass of wine or walking around your favorite park.

2. Create your to-do list for Monday

It may help to actually see what you have to do. You won’t have to think of it anymore if it’s written down. This way, you can also physically put it away to enjoy your Sunday evening.

3. Chat up a friend

A friend may be able to let you express your worries so that they’re off your mind. Tell them what you’re nervous about. This works really well if this friend is also feeling a bit of the Sunday Scaries so you know that neither of you are alone (it’s more common than you think!) and can help each other out.

4. Get some sleep

Go to bed early and get a full night’s rest! Especially if you sleep less during the week. Put the electronics away, pull up your weighted blanket and turn on that white noise machine.

5. Try meditation

If you don’t meditate already, try giving it a try to get a clear head. There are plenty of ways to start with free trials on apps like Headspace, or even trying out Youtube videos until you find the one that’s perfect for you. I even use the Mindfulness feature on my Apple Watch for a two-minute breathing exercise.

Enjoy!
