How + Why TBB started from the Founder
Hey Gal! Happy Monday!
Today I'm sharing some pieces of how + why I started TBB in the hopes to help you if you're on a similar path:)
WHY DID I START TBB? I started this company more from a space of personal reasons. This was way before remote work was so common or a hybrid schedule or even freelancing was really well-known. It was “work 8-5 and sit in an office.” I absolute HATED the idea of this. I had a ton of jobs prior to starting TBB and even worked them the first 3 years of growing TBB. Additionally, I felt lonely. Most of my friends had moved post college and I didn't know where to meet people. I heard other women experiencing the same thing and longing for a community like this.
HOW I GOT STARTED. I had no clue where to begin but the biggest piece is JUST DO. Make action. I worked with my life coach Kim White. I took Marie Forleo's online B School. I went to events others were putting on to meet like minded people. I THEN got a website created and a Facebook page and started with one retreat at Hocking Hills.
HOW IT GREW. Consistency + hard work. I notice a lot of groups that pop up and then they're gone after a few months. I think it's normal for us to want something big but also want to stay comfortable and that isn't how the world works in my experience. You have to give to get. I had to make sacrifices for the bigger picture. I had to stay consistent even when momentum lacked. I had to juggle a lot of moving parts often and still do. I never stopped learning and continued to work with another amazing coach, Melissa Blackburn.
If you're looking to make a big change in your life I'd say the core pieces that helped me most were this:
a) Healthy + Growth Mindset. Surround yourself with supportive, positive people. Leave the rest behind. Work on continuously growing your mind.
b) Learning. Learning can be free. Go to the library and soak in all the best books. Listen to top podcasts.
c) Work with a quality coach. The RIGHT coach can help you grow and expedite your process.
d) Be okay with not being perfect. You will probably always feel like you don't know what you're doing. That's normal. You will make mistakes. Just be ok with it and keep chugging along.
