The Beauty Boost grew from 5 to 17 Cities within 3 Months!

Hey gal!

Rachel, the founder here. Here's the quick n dirty version of The Beauty Boost story from beginning to where we are today.

The timeline below is to the best of my memory:)

2014: I had no idea what I wanted to do in life. I was in my mid 20s-ish and just knew I HATED working a desk job. I found a life coach (Kim White) and everything changed.

2015: The Beauty Boost launched in Columbus, OH. I was still working my corporate job while growing TBB slowly + organically on the side.

2016: Went part-time at my desk job because TBB was growing!!

2017: Left corporate completely, did some freelance on the side and ran TBB full-time.

2018: It seemed like all within the same month, women were messaging and emailing asking if TBB was in their city or could I recommend something similar. So the wheels started turning. Myself, with the HUGE help of Lindsey Escaja, launched TBB in Cincy + Cle and a gal I went to school with launched it in Pittsburgh. (Lindsey still runs TBB Cle)!

2019: The cities continued with some new city owners coming in and THEN my good friend Nicole moved to Charlotte and wanted to expand TBB there. So we launched it there in December. The launch party went amazing.

2020: TBB was THRIVING. Things were rolling. Leading up to March, 2020, The Beauty Boost was still in 5 cities. Then BAM. Covid. I felt partially like Ohhh SNAP... what will I do. Our whole everything is based on in-person events with loads of people. But I also felt oddly calm. I prayed a lot. I took control of what I could and let the rest go. I stopped spending money on almost everything beyond the essentials. We, thankfully, work with amazing people (you guys) and awesome local companies. Our partners and people stuck with us and we offered as much virtual as we could. During the end of this particular year I could feel things were shifting for us (in a good way). I was getting more items together on the backend of the business per Nicole's constant nagging me and amazing suggestions:)

2021: Somehow, from December of 2020 to March of 2021 we RAPIDLY grew to 17 cities. We're fully functioning in 15 of them. I didn't do ANY outreach. It started one by one. For example, Brooke in Flagstaff would share on IG and have someone reach out asking about starting it in their city. So I'd take that call, interview the person, confirm they'd be a great fit and then a new city was born... and on and on. Every time a new city came on I was SO excited but also shi*ing my pants because growth can be very scary and people relying on you can be scary.

Today as we near the end of 2021, I couldn't be MORE excited for what 2022 will eventually bring. This year has had a lot of highs and lows and I'm sure it'll continue but I can proudly say we have an awesome group of leaders owning and running these cities. I continue to learn and be challenged by everyone on the team and I'm so happy that ALL women all over can experience TBB.

I never could have imagined looking back that this is where I'd be and I'm sure I'll say the same thing at this point next year. The things that have helped me grow are simple but so important which are:

*Surround yourself with people doing the things. If you want to own a biz, hang out with business owners
*Have a good support team. I have cried so many times this year to my friends, my mom, my boyfriend and my grandma when things got heavy.
*For me, I rely heavily on my faith and God. That could be journaling/meditation etc for you. Find what works for you.
*Creating a healthy mindset. This is probably NUMBER ONE. You have to feed your mind...whatever that means. It could be listening to podcasts, reading books, affirmations, making a weekly goal sheet, etc. It's the ability to shift yourself out of a rut and remember who you are and what your values/morals are when you need them most.

Enjoy <3
PS If you want to bring TBB to your city, have questions about starting up your side hustle or anything at all, email me back!
