HER STORY ⟡ Angella Aizire
A decade ago, my family and I made the life-changing move from Uganda to the United States. This transition brought about a unique challenge: my skin didn't adapt well to the new environment. We landed in the midst of winter, and my skin became unbearably dry, itchy, and flaky. I tried numerous skincare products, but none seemed to provide the relief I needed. The itching was especially frustrating, often leading to scratch marks and scars.
When I couldn't find a product that met my needs, I decided to create my own formula using Shea butter as the foundation. In Uganda, Shea butter is known as a medicinal ointment capable of treating all manner of skin conditions. So, I thought, "Why not start here, incorporating Shea Butter and the oils I already had at hand, like olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, and grapeseed oil?" I had experience concocting mixtures for my persistently dry hair, and I believed I could apply that same creativity to my skin.
It took several attempts and several months of experimentation, but over the past five years, I have honed the perfect formula for dry skin. The result is a luxurious Cocoa & Shea Butter blend, rich, creamy, decadent, and so fragrant. Not only does it provide deep hydration, but it also alleviates itching, fades marks and scars, and makes the skin feel indulgent
My journey didn't stop there. Later on, I developed another formula for oily skin, responding to the needs of friends and family who desired a body butter that felt light. This gave birth to the Mango Butter blend, a soft and light option that doesn't clog pores.
A third formula, the Coconut & Shea blend, caters to normal to dry skin and is the creamiest of them all. With its light Coconut-Mint scent, it offers a sophisticated touch.
Throughout this journey, I ventured into creating other products as well, including a super-moisturizing Lip Balm, a light Face Oil ideal for oil cleansing and moisturizing, a non-greasy Body Oil, a nourishing Beard Oil, and a Moisturizing Hair Oil designed for natural hair. My mission has been to provide effective, enjoyable skincare options to those who share my struggles and needs.
OUR STORY
SIS Skincare emerged from a deeply personal quest for relief from dry, itchy skin, rooted in the founder's transition from Uganda to the US. Frustrated by the lack of effective commercial solutions, she turned to her cultural heritage and began crafting her own skincare remedies in her kitchen. Experimenting with natural oils and butters, she honed her formulas over several years, resulting in luxurious body butters that not only hydrated but also healed and rejuvenated the skin.
Driven by the desire for products that felt indulgent rather than medicinal, she developed multiple formulations tailored to different skin types, from rich Cocoa & Shea Butter blends for dry skin to lighter Mango Butter blends for oily skin. This journey of self-discovery and experimentation also led to the creation of a diverse range of skincare products, including lip balms, face oils, body oils, and hair oils, all crafted with 100% natural ingredients.
The heart of SIS Skincare lies in its commitment to harnessing the healing properties of nature to nurture the skin and hair. With a mission to provide accessible, natural skincare solutions, the brand focuses on local community engagement through farmers markets, pop-ups, and partnerships with boutique retailers. Looking ahead, SIS Skincare aims to expand its presence nationally, while remaining true to its ethos of quality, authenticity, and efficacy in the beauty industry.

EDUCATION BLOG
Join our efforts to “SAVE The Shea Tree;” A campaign to Empower Communities in the Ugandan shea belt Through agroforestry training and sustainable use of indigenous trees"
SIS Skincare and MooMeGen are joining forces for a crucial campaign: Saving the Nilotica Shea Tree. It is believed that from 1990 to 2015, Uganda lost 63% of its forest cover due to the felling of trees for firewood, charcoal and timber, and to clear land for farms and towns. Recent reports noted that Agago district lost 20,000 shea trees in five months.
Our initiative aims to educate the communities in the Ugandan Shea Belt on the invaluable benefits of indigenous trees like the Shea tree and the practice of agroforestry.
Central to our efforts is not only the preservation of the Shea tree but also the introduction of economically beneficial alternatives. MooMeGen is introducing other oil trees like the Desert Date and Moringa, which offer local communities sustainable economic opportunities. Furthermore, our campaign sheds light on the dangers posed by the charcoal trade, emphasizing the importance of preserving trees rather than cutting them down for short-term gains.
Through education and awareness, we strive to foster a deep appreciation for the ecological and economic significance of these trees, ensuring their preservation for generations to come. Together, let's protect our natural heritage and build a more sustainable future.
To kick off our campaign, SIS Skincare and MooMeGen are launching a fundraising drive with a transformative goal in mind: building an education facility that serves as a focal point for our community to learn about the critical importance of agroforestry and sustainable indigenous trees. This facility will be more than just a physical space—it will be a hub of knowledge and empowerment. Here, community members can come together to deepen their understanding of the vital role that trees like the Shea tree play in our ecosystem and economy. Through workshops, seminars, and hands-on demonstrations, we'll educate individuals on the benefits of agroforestry practices and the sustainable cultivation of indigenous trees.
Our vision extends beyond mere education; we aim to inspire action and create lasting change. By fostering a sense of ownership and stewardship over our natural resources, we empower our community to become guardians of the land and advocates for sustainability.
Together, through this education facility, we'll lay the foundation for a greener, more resilient future—one where the preservation of our precious trees is not just a priority, but a shared commitment. Join us in building a brighter tomorrow, rooted in knowledge, sustainability, and community empowerment.
