HER STORY ⟡ Alyssa of Boujee Dog Bites

Treat your dog (and yourself) at Boujee Dog Bites!

My name is Alyssa and I’m the owner, founder of the locally created Boujee Dog Bites! I am surrounded by males – my husband Daniel, our almost year-old son Sterling, and our two dogs Athens and Bacchus, but am proud to be a woman-owned business with a women-led team! Everything I make is taste-tested approved by our particular pups first!

I LOVE dogs! I have been obsessed with dogs since I was a little girl. My favorite book was a dog encyclopedia that had every dog breed in it. When taking my own childhood dog for a walk, I would pride myself on knowing all the dog breeds we came across – and I still do! I believe dogs are truly magical creatures and we are only just starting to understand how truly smart and special they are. So I wanted to create something to get your dog’s tail wagging, but also something that would bring a lot of joy to their humans too, because dog people are the best! Boujee Dog Bites was born out of that.

I love the challenge of being a business owner because no 2 days are the same, and you always have to rise to the occasion. I also love that I get to bring out my creative side through all the fun recipes and specials I create, especially for holidays and birthdays! We even made some awesome Barbie specials when the movie came out! I love seeing the smiles on people’s faces, and of course how excited their dogs get.

I am so proud to have a business that creates products made for not only your dog to enjoy, but for their humans to share in their enjoyment too. We offer something completely unique and special for your dog with our restaurant-style boujee bites. We constantly have customers telling us it’s the most excited their dog has ever been over a treat and they come back over and over. That is the best feeling ever!

My favorite advice is summed up by Shirley Chisholm – “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” Amazing women like Shirley, who was the first black woman in congress and the first woman to run for president under the two major political parties, I’m so inspired!

To me, beauty is uplifting other women. I love being around talented women, whether I know them through the small business community or as members of my talented team.

If you’re starting a business, just go for it! I tell myself to not be afraid and that the worst that can happen is someone will say no. As my business has grown, my confidence has too, because I see how much people (and dogs) truly love what we make!
