HER STORY ⟡ Amber Preston
Meet Amber of Amber Preston Aesthetics!
Why I started:
My career path has serendipitously given me the experience and knowledge to run a business focused on helping others feel their best. An artist at heart, I have a BFA in Musical Theatre from Wright State University. I once set my sights on a career on Broadway, but life had other plans. Instead of New York City, I made my home in Columbus to raise my daughter as a single parent. Aesthetics and skincare became a refuge for me as I realized I needed more than a 9 to 5 desk life could provide. My shelter and retreat soon became my beacon and I worked to receive my esthetic’s license from Aveda Institute.
I began my aesthetics career at Columbus Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery, working by day as a medical aesthetician while continuing to develop my makeup portfolio on the side. I connected with Gabby Douglas while she was in Columbus training for the 2016 Olympics and soon joined the gymnastics star, traveling with her on sets locally and nationally. In fact, you can catch me on some episodes of Gabby’s reality show, Douglas Family Gold, that aired on Oxygen in 2016.
Inspired by my work with the gold medal winner, I decided to pursue my own dream of owning my own spa, a place where clients could feel the same refuge from their busy lives. As with my career, I followed a circuitous path as a an independent esthetician, leasing space around the city until finally purchasing a building in 2021.
What I love about being a business owner:
What I love most about being a business owner is the ability and freedom to make decisions concerning brand partnerships, services, as well as the flexibility to make my own schedule. Being a single parent, the flexibility and autonomy over my schedule and how I run my practice is paramount.
