HER STORY ⟡ Dr. Nicole Garritano

Today, we are meeting Dr. Nicole Garritano!

Tell us about yourself and your background

I always tell my clients I can see in you what you can't see in yourself yet. My superpower is seeing people and understanding them deeply. I used to be that over-achiever chasing the next feather for my cap. I have many degrees and certifications, but I realized none of these truly made me happy. It wasn't until I woke up with a herniated disc in my neck with no known injury that I finally was forced to get off the success train and own my "no." Going through that journey inspired me to embrace a new way of being, release the people pleasing mentality, and help other women break free from the success cycle and feel comfortable being in their own genius doing what they love.

With a background in healthcare and academia I have blend science with mysticism and spirituality to help other high-achieving, spiritually-curious women decondition, release limiting beliefs, and step into their full potential. I do this through coaching/consulting, human design, energy medicine, and breathwork.

I am also a wife and mom with a grade school daughter and 3 fur babies. I love nature walks, reading, writing, wine tastings, dabbling in herbal remedies, traveling, and time with family and friends. I like to be the first one to a party and the last one to leave:)

Tell us about your business and why you started it

As I said above I hit a burnout point in my career. I was running two programs at the university, maintaining my clinical practice as a nurse practitioner, serving on multiple boards, presenting at conferences, publishing research articles, and still trying to show up as the best mom and wife. When I woke up with the herniated disc it was a hard wake up call. I was in pain all weekend and couldn't get an MRI until Monday. I laid in bed unable to be on my phone or moving around, and I couldn't take care of my daughter or my dogs. It was forced quiet time that I desperately needed and it helped me reprioritize my life. Laying in bed that weekend I made the commitment to start a coaching business that would help other women who felt overwhelmed too. Once I was through injections and physical therapy I began my business.

It started as a side business, and in 2021 I made it my full time commitment. The work has changed and morphed over the years because as I continue to grow and develop the business continues to grow and develop too. I always say my heart for service and healing has never changed. Now I have clients instead of students or patients, but they still need time, attention, and someone to help them on their journey. Just like I could see the path to recovery for a patient. Or see the trajectory for my students and their aspirations. I see in my clients what they can't yet see in themselves, and together we bring that vision into focus.

What do you love about being a business owner?

I love the freedom of being a business owner and that it allows me to be more present for my daughter. I get to be the mom who volunteers at school in between client calls. Too many times we are taught to silo our lives. However, to be truly free you must be able to embrace all of your roles and not deny the importance of each of them. I bring my presence wherever I go. And that presence is powerful on a client call, speaking on a stage, making copies for a teacher, working in the school cafeteria, and doing homework with my daughter. As a business owner, I get to do what my heart desires, and there is no greater freedom than that.

What type of impact do you hope to make on those you meet and/or who receive your services?

I love seeing women unapologetically embrace their gifting and do the things they didn't believe were possible for them. I love the "a-ha" moments working with a client or when I am teaching. Helping others connect the dots brings me joy because our transformation doesn't belong to us. It belongs to those we touch through our transformation. When that happens I know I am contributing to the ripple effect. One "a-ha" moment can lead to thousands of future transformations, and in that moment I know I have made an impact.

What advice would you give yourself from 5 years ago OR your past self just starting your business?

My advice would be have patience and do not get discouraged. Businesses ebb and flow and it requires a lot of persistence, perseverance, and faith. I am grateful because I do feel like each step along my career path prepared me for being a business owner. It can be lonely at times, that is why organizations like TBB are so important. It can feel lonely, but we don't have to do it alone. Being in community makes it better.

What does BEAUTY mean to you?

Beauty starts on the inside. Those women who glow have aligned within, and then it radiates out for the world to see. What if society taught us to go inward first and create beautiful thoughts and feelings about ourselves, to love ourselves unconditionally, and find alignment in our body-mind-spirit? Imagine how we would all glow and what a beautiful world it would be.

Who or what inspires you?

There are so many sources for inspiration. First and foremost my daughter inspires me. Having little eyes watching you is a huge responsibility, and I want to do great things for her. When I am feeling stuck I like to get outside and be in nature or look at the sky on a starry night. Stories of overcoming and triumph, music, witnessing wins for clients, watching my dogs play all inspire me.

What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?

You are here on purpose and for a purpose. You deserve to align to your energy and natural gifting and be unapologetically you.

Anything else you would like to share!

I would love to connect!
