HER STORY ⟡ Patricia of ProEdge Sports Massage
Today we are meeting Patricia, Founder of ProEdge Sports Massage!
Tell us about you and your background!
I grew up in a small town in northern Illinois before moving to Cincinnati at 16. In my twenties, I was kind of on a quest—looking for a passion, a way to make a difference, and, honestly, a job I loved. It wasn’t until my early 30s that I decided to go back to school. I wasn’t even sure massage was the thing for me, but I was determined to give it my all. By the time I graduated, I was fired up and ready to keep learning. I had a clear vision for where I wanted to go and what I wanted to create. Fast forward almost five years, and now I have two small offices in Cincinnati and NKY. I’m all about helping my clients thrive, while continuing to grow and evolve to meet their needs. I am excited to keep building and bringing more of what I do to the community.
Tell us about your business and why you started it!
ProEdge opened about five years ago with one simple goal: to create a place where clients can truly heal and feel healthy. I wanted it to be a space where people feel as comfortable as they would talking to their best friend or sister—no stuffy vibes here! It's all about giving clients a space to open up, relax, or just decompress. I specialize in injury support and prevention, plus pre- and post-activity prep and recovery. Over the years, I’ve worked with so many different people—from those dealing with tight shoulders to folks recovering from injuries. My mission is simple: I want my clients to feel their best so they can do whatever they love—without pain or injury getting in the way.
We mix in all the best recovery techniques, and the diversity of my work environment keeps things interesting. Whether I’m in the gym, at an event, on a golf course, in the office, or out in nature, every session is different. It’s never boring, and honestly, I learn something new from my clients every time.
What do you love about being a business owner?
I absolutely love being a business owner because it lets me treat my clients like family— leaving the corporate behind! I can set fair prices and use the techniques that truly help the people I work with. My clients keep me on my toes with new challenges all the time, which keeps things fresh and exciting! I also love being part of awesome communities like TBB—it’s all about connecting, growing, and doing what I love. And I’m super excited to bring on new therapists and help them grow and thrive too. Can’t wait to have team energy, and I’m here for it!"
What advice would you give yourself from 5 years ago OR your past self just starting your business?
If I could go back to when I first started my practice 5 years ago, the advice I’d give myself would be super simple: 'Just give it time. Trust in who you are and what you’re doing, and the business will grow on its own.' Owning a small business can definitely be stressful, and I had to remind myself every day that 'Rome wasn’t built in a day'—no empire pops up overnight! I needed to give myself some grace and let the business grow at its own pace. I definitely told myself that… but I’m not sure I actually listened at the time! Looking back, though, I’m so glad I took the time. If I had rushed things, I wouldn’t have the amazing environment and client base I have today. Going into 2025, my mantra is: 'Take a moment, give yourself the grace you deserve, and trust how far you’ve come.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Beauty is honestly so much more than just skin deep. It's about feeling confident and trusting your body to do amazing things. Beauty is all about belief—believing in yourself, in your strength, and in your ability to take on anything life throws at you. It's about how you approach life, health, and love. And sometimes, beauty is simply giving yourself the time to heal, to rebuild, and to ask for help when you need it. It's about accepting where you are, then finding the strength to fight for where you want to go—mentally, physically, all of it.
Who or what inspires you?
My aunts are huge inspirations for me. Both of them are business owners who built something amazing from the ground up, back in the days before social media and algorithms. If they can thrive, I know I need to find the common threads between what they did and the mission I’m on. My friends also inspire me to be my best every day—pushing me to go after what I want and never back down. I’m strong, independent, and confident in what I do. But honestly, my clients are my biggest inspiration. I’m never afraid to tackle a new challenge. I actually love diving into new issues and figuring out how to fix them. They keep me on my toes in the best way possible!
