Tips n Tricks for Creating a Zen Space
Hey Gal! Happy Monday!
Today we're chatting on creating a zen space!
Everyone talks about decluttering and creating a space that's peaceful, but in addition to all that, for me a space has to be clean to be peaceful. Watching the dust bunnies roll across the floor does not inspire calm!
Below are my tips n tricks!
1. Separate decluttering from cleaning - don't make junk piles; make the bed daily; put dirty clothes in the hamper; don't leave dishes in the sink, etc. These habits take minimal time; make everything look better, and separate the “tasks” of decluttering AND cleaning, so it's not so overwhelming
2. Fake clean - some things make everything else look cleaner (or dirtier). Clean shiny things first - mirrors, faucets, reflective surfaces - they make everything else look cleaner
3. Be ready - keep microfiber cloths and cleaner in spray bottles (I use diluted isopropyl alcohol or sal's suds) readily available - in a cabinet or drawer in every room. If I see it, I take 30 seconds and wipe it.
4. Reframe the job - I take a 5 or 10 minute break from something mentally taxing to see how much I can get done in a given room. Maybe all I do is clean the stovetop, but there's a feeling of accomplishment and a physical break. And when I do actually clean, there's that much less to do
5. Create a new norm - I view taking the few minutes each day to make my bed and clear the sink a gift I give myself. I don't want to look at it, and even if I feel like I don't have those few minutes, I take them!
These are simple but effective and for me, life changing:) Enjoy!
